We visited for the first time after the takeover and were skeptical about how the experience would be, but Cagney's Kitchen has done a great job revamping the space after taking over from Tex & Shirley's. It was pleasantly surprising to find that the food is still just as good, and even better, some of the old staff is still around, bringing a familiar and welcoming touch. The service was excellent--attentive, friendly, and efficient. The new bar area is a great addition, and the overall ambiance feels refreshed and inviting. It's nice to see the place looking good while still maintaining the quality that made it a local favorite. We will definitely go back for breakfast!

Even with a few closures in recent years, High Point has no shortage of Greek-influenced Southern diners, and that interchangeability is part of why I never felt a strong compulsion to pay Cagney's a visit. Faced with a banana French toast craving, it seemed as good an option as any, and it proved to be better than expected. Cagney's is spacious and seemed even more so as it was largely empty when I stopped by on a Tuesday morning (they likely get considerably busier on the weekends). The menu is big too: breakfast options included plates, omelets, benedicts, pancakes, waffles, and more. Come here later in the day, and you can find everything from salads and sandwiches to Greek to Tex-Mex to pizza. I opted for two pieces of Bananas Foster French Toast with a scrambled egg on the side. Service was fast and friendly, and the kitchen churned out the food quickly. At $8, it was practically a steal and though not the best I've had (it could have used some chopped nuts), it was better than it needed to be for that price point. The banana/brown sugar/whipped cream topping on the French toast made for a sweet bite, and the egg wasn't overcooked. I don't know how Cagney's rates as a lunch/dinner option or during busier times, but for a weekday breakfast, it's well worth your consideration for a good bite at an affordable price.

Visiting friends in High Point, we went to Cagney's Kitchen for Saturday mornings breakfast. We had no trouble getting in at 9 am but I will say business picked up quite a bit soon after we were seated to the point that there was a wait. The inside is pretty big though, with a lot of seating. Our waitress was excellent!! High five to Lilliana!! Food came out as ordered and as far as regular breakfast food goes it was good. Straight forward. Nothing fancy. Definitely recommend you giving them a try.

Good service and good food. 4.5/5. When in High Point, this is a great place for a quick bite. Our waitress was informative and friendly. The menu is vast. Many good options. I've tried the buffalo chicken pizza which was surprisingly good. The right amount of spice, crispy crust and generous toppings. Within the group we also had the pork chops. They were much thinner than expected. The two together make 1 decent pork chop. However, they were well seasoned and cooked properly. To be so thin, they were not dry. The waitress recommended the chicken souvlaki platter which was a hit. It's a busy restaurant but luckily we did not have to wait to be seated even on a weekend evening. I'll be going again.

First time trying Cagney's and I decided to try the meatloaf. They have quite an extensive menu with lots of options for sides as well. The meatloaf was pretty good and went well with the mashed potatoes and green beans. The inside of the restaurant has been updated really nicely as it used to be the old Tex and Shirley's. We will definitely be back to try other things!

I've never visited Cagney's in any of their other triad locations. I wanted to try breakfast before another meals. Azita was assigned to our table and is absolutely wonderful. She's very personable and makes sure you have everything you need. The food did not take long to be prepared. My husband ordered an iced latte and it was almost gone before his food came. He enjoyed it so much! His meal was the meat & 2 egg breakfast with sausage links. The links are good! Son had Farmer's omelette and said it was very good (full of veggies). I had the fried pork tenderloin breakfast. I won't get it again. The tenderloin was just meh. No flavor or seasoning. It's also pre -formed & possibly comes frozen like that. Eggs/buttered toast/hashbrowns were good. Their lunch/dinner menu is pretty extensive. I'm wondering if the sides are fresh veggies or frozen/canned. Way too many options for a place like that. I'd return for breakfast if I sat in Azita's section and ordered the meat & 2 egg breakfast.

Chicken pot pie was delicious! Their rolls are great, and I'm told the pintos were excellent. We had to wait a very long time for our food but our wait person was nice and gracious and was obviously working as fast as she could. I suspect they need more kitchen help.
